  there was an elder that i was out in service with one afternoon and durin lunch we got into a discussion about vegetarianism.

  i am a vegetarian and have been since having a "bad experience" with meat.

  (i don't care if others eat it, i just don't like it...so no judgements from me.

  Many articles in the Watchtower would argue that living forever would not be boring by quoting how excited certain scientists were by studying one type of fish or insect for twenty years. The Watchtower would then say what if you had hundreds, thousands or millions of years to pursue your interests?

  I always took that to mean humans would continue to produce new art, music and science. The natural state of humans is to grow. Stagnation equals death. That is the mistake most of my Witness friends made, they thought of life in the new system as not living as human beings but as museum exhibits.

  If God doesn't want brothers to have beards, why does it grow?

  men have facial hair and women don't, and that's god who decided that.. so why can't brothers have beards or goatees.

  Witnesses I knew in California and Texas thought that the highest level of technology in the new system would be no more than what was available in the 1800's. Some would become very upset when I said that science and technology would continue to progress.

  Crisis of Conscience opened my eyes and The Gentile Times Reconsidered removed every ounce of faith I had in the Watchtower. With 1914 gone the Watchtower crumbled to dust for me.

  Ok so you left the idea of God - what would it take to come back?

  "I prayed for you"

  if you aren't a "believer", does it bother you when someone says "i'll pray for you" or "i prayed for you"?.

  one of my colleagues is an incredibly kind and sweet person, and i know she says it because she believes she's doing something good on my behalf.

  i always say "thank you for thinking of me", because i know that's the spirit she's intending to convey and that she cares about the situation i'm in vis-a-vis my jw relatives, but she knows i no longer believe in god (at least not in the sense that she does) - i wonder does she think that a few prayers are going to change my mind?

  What made YOU drop Christianity?

  after i read coc and left the dubs for a short while i considered myself christian.

  the way franz explained it, all that is required is to have faith in jesus and to love your neighbor as yourself and then you will be 'saved'.

  the more i started pealing away at the onion though the dumber the premise of someone dying for my 'sins' seemed, and i just lost faith in it altogether.

  The only truth can be found in science.

  I like Judaism better then all the other religions but all religion is superstition so to be honest I have to be an Atheist.

  As I learned more about Christianity in the first century I also learned about first century Judaism. I came to the conclusion that the Christian scriptures did not tell the truth about Judaism in general and the Pharisees in particular.

  I stopped being a Christian when I realized that Jesus was not the Messiah but a deluded human being.
